IT Specialist – Tivoli \ Event Monitoring and Management

 

Job description

The successful applicant possesses the ability to provide day to day steady state Tivoli support for various customers performing incident, problem, release and change management.

The primary skill required is Tivoli monitoring (ITM 6.x) and Netcool suite (Omnibus, object server, WebGUI), LDS., ITCAM suite of products (Active Directory, Domino, MSSQL, Oracle, WebSphere, MQSeries, Sybase (NEW), Microsoft Sharepoint, Internet Information Server (IIS), Microsoft Exchange, DB2.

In addition, it would be advantageous for the candidate to have the following skills and experience. Working skills with AIX, Linux and Intel Server Support and possesses excellent communication and problem solving skills.  Shell and Perl is a great asset.

Candidate is required to be on call 24x7. 

Provide installation and maintenance updates of Tivoli line of products (ITM, ITCAM, Netcool suite of products), Develop and maintain operational support procedures for all supported Tivoli products as necessary. Provide level 1/2 problem isolation, determination and recovery of system management tools.

Preferred knowledge and experience in event management, system's management (Cloud, LPAR's, and networking).

 UNIX Administrator

 Job description

The UNIX Administrator is responsible for controlling or monitoring complex computer systems, networks, applications and/or distributed systems in a multi-vendor environment. Also responsible for ensuring proper operations of systems and subsystems and supporting other delivery teams to solve arising issues

 General responsibilities:

Key responsibilities include: Manages and controls the contracted systems and subsystems, proactively checks and monitors the contracted systems and subsystems, ensures systems and subsystems availability according to service level agreements, uses the incident and problem management tools, processes and services to solve incidents and problems, uses the change management tools, processes and services to complete the scheduled changes, initiates and schedules new changes based on change management processes and procedures, manages all compliance related workload in accordance with the related processes and procedures, restarts failing system and subsystem components after outages, This role will require communication and interaction with multiple internal teams and external clients

 The Systems Administrator Unix position holder is responsible for the management and support of the operating system tasks including: 

  • Strong IBM AIX and VIO administration skills
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd level support of AIX for supported services
  • Strong IBM AIX and VIO administration skills.
  • Strong System troubleshooting skills to resolve problems and issues occurred on the AIX servers within the times specified in the SLA
  • Work through problems and issues to obtain root cause analysis

 Job description:

The System Administrator position is responsible for the provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of the Intel/VMWare servers in a multi-vendor environment.  The position requires daily on-site presence at Atlantic Proximity Center sites in Florenceville or Saint John, New Brunswick

 General responsibilities:

Key responsibilities of the position include:

  • Management and control for the contracted systems and subsystems. Proactive checks and monitoring of the contracted systems and subsystems to ensure availability according to service level agreements.
  • Use of the incident and problem management tools, processes and services to respond to, analyze, resolve and determine root cause for problems and incidents in the environment.
  • Use of the change management tools, processes and services to initiate, manage and complete scheduled changes in the environment in accordance with ongoing maintenance, projects and break/fix activities.
  • Provides assistance to other delivery teams as needed to complete assignments.
  • Participate in Project planning sessions, perform project tasks, and support Project team (Project Manager, Project Integrator) in coordination of activities
  • Security compliance - patching, health check remediation, server hardening, and audit support. Knowledge of security policies and experience implementing security controls
  • Due to the nature of the services supported, this role will need to carry out tasks out of the normal office times, which are ensured by shift mode work and/or standby call-out support and/or overtime. As such, the candidate must be willing to accept 24x7 on-call support responsibilities as part of a team rotation schedule.

  

Areas of expertise to include proven knowledge in the following: 

  • Intel server architecture and technologies (vBlock/HP/Flex preferred).
  • Windows server OS (32 and 64 bit) versions 2003 to 2012.
  • MS Active Directory, group policy, security components.
  • VMware ESxi environments versions 5.0 and higher. Working knowledge of other VMWare products such as Site Recovery Manager (SRM) or VMView is also desirable.

 Job description:

 SAN Specialists in this job role will have expertise in one or more storage system technology areas including disk, optical, SAN, NAS, or storage software related to these technologies. Typical examples of the deliverables are building proof-of-concept solutions with storage system technology and architecture storage solutions to address client requirements.
