FREDERICTON (CNB) – New Brunswick's fish and seafood industry is being supported by a summer promotion organized by the provincial government.

"Participating in this activity is a fun way to see our province and enjoy the incredible fish and seafood products available here at home," said Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries Minister Mike Olscamp. "This contest is also an excellent way to encourage New Brunswickers and visitors to buy local; this is something that I have always supported."

The Department of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries is running the contest, called Seafood Excursion. The contest encourages New Brunswickers and visitors to discover or rediscover fish and seafood markets around the province through the fascinating world of geocaching. Participants can win one of five seafood feasts valued at $250 each. Details are online.

Seafood Excursion is one of the ways the provincial government and industry are collaborating to implement innovative marketing strategies and support coastal communities. The department supports the fish and seafood industry through addressing several priorities, including marketing.

"This event provides an excellent opportunity to showcase our world-class products, unparalleled quality and our leadership in sustainability to our travelling visitors," said Olscamp. "I encourage all New Brunswickers to pick up their GPS and explore our wares."
