SHIPPAGAN (GNB) – Fisheries and Aquaculture Day will be held at the New Brunswick Aquarium and Marine Centre on Friday, July 20. The event will be held as part of the New Brunswick Fisheries and Aquaculture Festival.

The fishing and aquaculture industries as well as stakeholders from the agriculture sector will be well- represented this year.

The day's theme is From the lab to your plate. Family activities will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Several demonstration and tasting stands related to aquaculture, fisheries and agri-food activities will take place under a tent set up at the centre. The Professional Shellfish Growers Association of New Brunswick will take part.

Local producers and processors will give free samples of their products to visitors. In addition, visitors may have a full seafood meal in the Pavillon seafood restaurant next to the centre.

Various activities will be offered, especially for children, including crafts and face painting. In addition, Acadian musicians will perform from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Fisheries and Aquaculture Day is an opportunity to meet with staff at the New Brunswick Aquarium and Marine Centre, which houses employees of the Department of Agriculture and Aquaculture and the Coastal Zones Research Institute, and to meet representatives of the shellfish, fisheries and agriculture industries.
