MEMRAMCOOK (GNB) – Locally-grown and sourced produce and products will be on the menu at the first ever Breakfast on the Farm event, celebrating New Brunswick farmers and innovations in the agri-food industry. The event will take place at Verger Belliveau Orchard in Memramcook on Sunday, Aug. 23.
“Breakfast on the Farm is an important stop on our Buy Local tour. This event will provide guests with the chance to meet our dedicated farm families and extend thanks for all their hard work,” said Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries Minister Rick Doucet. “I am excited to be a part of this unique opportunity to celebrate the farmers who have contributed to the agri-food industry in New Brunswick, creating jobs to support our families and move our province forward.”
Organized by the Agricultural Alliance of New Brunswick, the event will provide guests with the opportunity to learn about food production and farming. Interactive displays, guided orchard tours and other activities will demonstrate how food is grown and how innovation sends these products from gate to plate.
“We are happy to present our first Breakfast on the Farm event,” said alliance president Mike Bouma. “We are hoping this event opens up a real conversation about food and the people who produce it. We also hope to raise awareness about how New Brunswickers can buy local. We are very thankful for our hosting farm and for all of our sponsors, food donors and volunteers who are making this event a reality.”
Guests can also enjoy a complimentary breakfast, which will be made using New Brunswick-grown and sourced products. Admission to the breakfast is by ticket only and must be reserved in advance by visiting the Agricultural Alliance of New Brunswick website. Only 500 tickets to the breakfast are available. They will not be available the day of the event.
The event will be held rain or shine from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Verger Belliveau Orchard at 1209 Principale St., Memramcook. The breakfast will be served from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
