FREDERICTON (GNB) – Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries Minister Ross Wetmore will lead a delegation of more than 100 New Brunswick companies participating in the 2019 Seafood Expo North America.

The event takes place March 17-19 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.

The exposition is one of North America’s leading seafood marketing events and has been held annually for over 30 years. It attracts more than 19,000 buyers and suppliers of fresh, frozen, packaged and value-added seafood products, equipment and services. Attendees travel from more than 100 countries to do business at the exposition.

“New Brunswick wants to grow its seafood exports, and these few days every year in Boston are helping us to achieve that goal,” said Wetmore. “Since becoming minister, I have been struck by the strong desire of New Brunswick producers to put the best-quality seafood on the tables of customers around the world.”

Representatives of New Brunswick’s seafood and seafood services industries participate to reinforce relationships with existing customers, to generate new customer leads, and to secure sales for 2019.

The seafood industry is a major contributor to the economy of New Brunswick. Seafood exports in 2018 remained relatively stable at $1.7 billion, with notable growth in the value of lobster and salmon sales.

The New Brunswick booth will have six co-exhibitors and, again this year, nearly all of the province’s seafood producers, harvester associations and industry service providers will be represented.
