Overview

The Canadian Potato Variety Repository, housed at the Plant Propagation Centre, comprises a collection of commercial potato varieties from North American breeding programs as well as a number of promising new seedling releases. The Repository contains material obtained from the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) repositories in Vancouver and La Pocatiere when these repositories closed in April of 1996. It also includes a number of privately owned varieties from North America and Europe.

Eligibility

Canadian and other North American plant propagation centres and seed producers.

Description

All material entering the program is subjected to a rigorous testing program, over and above AAFC's nuclear stock audit requirements.

The repository's function is to serve as a source, as well as a point of entry, for material into the Canadian Seed Certification System. Any multiplication functions are outside of the purpose of the operation and any arrangements for multiplication services should be made separately. A maximum of five plantlets of each entry will be distributed to each client. The fee schedule has been established to recover repository operating costs. Orders will be provided on a first come, first serve basis.

Fees

Unless otherwise specified, Fees exclude the harmonized sales tax (HST).
