FREDERICTON (CNB) – The Grand Manan V ferry will be back in service on June 18, Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Claude Williams announced today.

"Additional damage to the starboard side has been identified to the hull plate and internal frame after the vessel was placed in dry dock, and this needs to be repaired," Williams said.

The ferry will remain at the Groupe Maritime Verreault dry dock in Les Méchins, Que., until June 15, and it will return to service on June 18. Repairs are continuing to the damage that was originally identified.

On May 18, the Grand Manan V lost its steering capabilities and became moored on a ledge about 20 metres from the wharf in Blacks Harbour.
