QUISPAMSIS (GNB) – The new francophone elementary school in Kennebecasis Valley will be located on a parcel of land measuring almost 9.6 hectares (24 acres) at the corner of Quispamsis Road and Pettingill Road in Quispamsis.
Design and architectural work will begin this fall with construction scheduled to begin in the spring.
“I am delighted to be celebrating this phase of the project that is so important to students, parents, and school staff in Kennebecasis Valley,” said Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Jody Carr. “The students and staff will be learning and working in a modern environment that is inclusive and dynamic. I extend my most sincere thanks to everyone who helped make this project a reality.”
The school will have 18 classrooms, a double gymnasium, a multipurpose room, music and art rooms, library and cafeteria, project work areas for students, and an outdoor playground and sports field.
“For francophones in the area, this is cause for great celebration," said Finance Minister Blaine Higgs. “The new school will be a great addition to the province's education system, while meeting the growing needs of families in the greater Quispamsis area.”
Higgs attended the announcement on behalf of Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Claude Williams.
