RICHIBUCTO (GNB) – The provincial government has sold the former Richibucto Courthouse  to a private company (510839 NB Ltd.) for $53,000.

“We are working to dispose of surplus properties like the former Richibucto Courthouse to generate revenue for the province, while also providing an opportunity for interested groups, municipalities, individuals or companies to invest and contribute to the development of our communities,” said Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Claude Williams. “It is a win-win situation for all stakeholders involved.”

The former courthouse, a two-storey brick building at 9358 Main St. in Richibucto, was erected in the 1940s. It was declared surplus by the Department of Justice after court services were consolidated in Moncton. The property was tendered for sale by the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure in 2012.
