MEMRAMCOOK (GNB) – The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure has issued a request for proposals to seek a partner to operate and maintain the Memramcook Golf Course in the village of Memramcook.

“This is an excellent opportunity for the province to partner with the private sector to operate and maintain a publicly accessible golf course,” said Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Claude Williams. “Our goal is to keep the course open at no cost to government.”

The request for proposals seeks a one-year, renewable operations and maintenance agreement with a private sector service provider for the 2014 golf season with an option to renew the agreement in 2015.

The 18-hole course, on the former Collège Saint-Joseph property at 54 Parc Rd., includes a registration, pro shop and canteen building; shower and washroom facilities; three storage and maintenance buildings; and an irrigation pump house and reservoir.
 
A potential operator must provide a business plan for the golf course which includes information on financing, cost estimates, financial projections and secured capital. The provincial government will not provide any financial assistance for the operation of the accepted proposal.

As conditions of the agreement, the successful proponent must maintain the golf course to acceptable standards. The province is also seeking a flat fee or percentage of revenues for use of the golf course.
 
A committee made up of representatives from the departments of Tourism, Heritage and Culture; Transportation and Infrastructure; and Government Services will evaluate all proposals and make recommendations to the government on the selection of a successful proponent.

Proposals will be accepted until 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 24, 2014. A site visit for potential proponents will take place on Jan. 10.

The Memramcook Golf Course was successfully operated and maintained by a third-party service provider since early July 2013. The course has received fall maintenance to protect it during the winter months. It is now closed for the season but will reopen next year.
