FREDERICTON (GNB) – The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure continues to receive reports of access gates in wildlife fencing being left open.

Leaving these gates open puts the travelling public at higher risk of being involved in a moose collision. The integrity of wildlife fencing is critical to highway safety.

Anyone using the gates to enter or leave a wooded or remote area is reminded to close them.

There are about 300 motor vehicles/moose collisions per year in New Brunswick with most occurring between dusk and dawn.
