FREDERICTON (GNB) – Spring weight restrictions will be extended in the southern part of the province for one week, meaning they will remain in effect until midnight, May 17.

Due to the wet and cold conditions this spring, roads across the province are too saturated to lift the spring weight restrictions. Routes in southern New Brunswick will require additional time to recover as some roads are still experiencing frost heaves.

Any change to the spring weight restrictions for routes in the northern part of the province will be communicated in the coming days.

Should weather conditions warrant, district engineers are authorized to close roads at any time to trucks or to impose weight restrictions on highways or portions of highways.
