RICHIBUCTO (GNB) – An estimated $1.6 million will be invested in road upgrades in Richibucto, Rexton and Rogersville under the Municipal Designated Highway Program.

“Our government understands the importance of investing in municipal infrastructure,” said Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Bill Fraser. “By maintaining, developing and upgrading municipal roads and infrastructure, we can promote economic growth and job creation, while supporting our communities and ensuring the safety of New Brunswickers.”

Upgrades include:

  • in Rogersville – paving a 1.2-kilometre section of Route 126 from Pleasant Street to Saint-Paul Street;
  • in Richibucto – paving a 3.3-kilometre section of Route 134 (Main Street) from Acadie Street to the village limit; and
  • in Rexton – paving Route 134 (Main Street) from the south village limit to the intersection of routes 495 and 505 (Centennial Avenue).

Under the Municipal Designated Highway Program, municipalities apply to the provincial government for funding assistance for capital upgrades. The provincial government is providing $25 million in funding this fiscal year for priority projects.
