OROMOCTO (GNB) — The provincial government will invest almost $3 million in paving, chip seal work and culvert repairs in the Oromocto and Lincoln areas this year, part of a $30-million investment in the Greater Fredericton region.
“Your government recognizes that the economy depends upon the safe and efficient movement of people and goods on our roads and bridges,” said Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Bill Fraser. “We are committing to investing strategically in transportation infrastructure to grow our economy.”
The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure will pave 2.4 kilometres of Restigouche Road, from Restigouche North Road to Broad Road, and 3.5 kilometres of Nevers Road, from Route 102 to the interchange of Route 2 and Route 7. Repairs are also planned for a culvert on Route 7 that suffered storm damage.
Chip seal will be applied to sections of Route 655, Barker Court, Graham Street, Kent Court, Kent Street, Perry Street, Randall Street, Roy Street and William Street.
The department’s $688.2-million capital budget reflects the government’s priority of investing strategically in its buildings, highways and bridges. Strategic investments in infrastructure are a key component of the multi-year New Brunswick Economic Growth Plan, the government’s framework for growing the economy and creating jobs.
