KESWICK RIDGE (GNB) – The provincial government will invest about $2.4 million in chip seal and bridge repair projects in northern York County this year, part of a $30 million investment in the Greater Fredericton region.

“Investments in transportation infrastructure help create jobs and grow the economy,” said Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Bill Fraser. “Your government is committed to investing strategically in roads and bridges to keep the economy moving forward.”

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure will repair storm damage on the Sullivan Creek No. 1 Bridge on Temple Road and replace a large culvert on Route 102 at Dumfries. Chip seal will be applied to sections of Route 605, Route 616, Jones Fork Road and Scott Siding Road. A second seal will be applied to sections of Route 615, McKeen Road and Pike Hill Road.

“Your government recognizes the importance of investing in rural roads,” said Fraser. “Rural New Brunswick is home to many of our traditional industries, such as forestry and agriculture.”

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure’s $688.2 million capital budget reflects the government’s priority of investing strategically in its buildings, highways and bridges. Strategic investments in infrastructure are a key component of the multi-year New Brunswick Economic Growth Plan, the government’s framework for growing the economy and creating jobs.
