MIRAMICHI (GNB) – The provincial and federal governments have announced more than $840,000 for improvements to Route 108.
The funding will pay to conduct partial depth recycling and paving for about 1.9 km of the highway from the Bryenton area to Parker Road.
“Route 108 is a strategic corridor for the lumber industry and an important link between eastern and western New Brunswick,” said Aboriginal Affairs Minister Jake Stewart. “I am pleased that our government is working with its federal partners to ensure our roads are safe and adequate for the travelling public.”
Stewart attended on behalf of Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Bill Oliver.
The provincial and federal governments are each contributing $420,000 towards the project.
“I am proud to say that residents of Bryenton will soon be enjoying improved roads, making their driving experience more enjoyable and more efficient,” said Miramichi–Grand Lake MP Pat Finnigan. “Investing in high-quality infrastructure is an essential part of building livable communities. Together with our provincial partners, we are protecting the long-term safety of the community for generations to come.”
Finnigan attended for federal Rural Economic Development Minister Bernadette Jordan.
Provincial funding is from the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure’s capital budget. Federal funding is from the Rural and Northern Infrastructure stream.
