FREDERICTON (CNB) – As the 2011 recreational fishing season winds down, anglers are reminded to complete and submit their fishing survey.

The survey takes only a few minutes to complete and can be done online or by filling out the postage-paid card found in the centre of the Fish 2011 regulations booklet.

By completing and submitting the card to the Department of Natural Resources, anglers are helping fisheries managers make more informed decisions.

"This is critical information that helps biologists understand where recreational fish populations may be in jeopardy and, conversely, where additional angling opportunities exist,'' said Mike Sullivan, director of the department's Fish and Wildlife Branch.

Anglers who complete and submit the survey will be eligible for a number of prizes being offered jointly by the department and the Atlantic Salmon Federation. These include high-quality fishing rod packages and free licences for the 2012 angling season.

The online survey and contest information are on the Department of Natural Resources website.
