TRACADIE-SHEILA (CNB) – Glen Savoie, 41, of Neguac, was fined $8,000 after pleading guilty to charges of illegal possession of timber from Crown land.

Savoie appeared Nov. 9 before Provincial Court Judge Donald LeBlanc in Tracadie-Sheila. He was given 18 months to pay the fine.

On Dec. 20, 2010, conservation officers with the Department of Natural Resources found Savoie on the Caissie Road near Neguac in possession of 45 white pine logs originating from Crown land. Another 45 of the logs had already been delivered to a sawmill.
