SUSSEX (GNB) – An in-store fundraising partnership between NB Liquor and the Atlantic Salmon Conservation Foundation was announced today in Sussex. The initiative will run until Sept. 30.

"The Atlantic salmon is an important part of our heritage, our culture and our economy,'' said Natural Resources Minister Bruce Northrup. "I congratulate NB Liquor and the Atlantic Salmon Conservation Foundation on this great partnership, which will benefit conservation projects throughout our province.''

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of more than 40 brands is being donated to the foundation for distribution to conservation projects in New Brunswick. In late September, customers will also be invited by NB Liquor cashiers to make a donation.

“New Brunswickers identify strongly with our rivers and streams,” said Daniel Allain, president and chief executive officer of NB Liquor. “We are proud to partner with the Atlantic Salmon Conservation Foundation to support their excellent river conservation projects.”

The foundation is a registered non-profit organization with the mandate to promote the conservation of New Brunswick rivers and streams.

“We are thrilled to receive this support from NB Liquor which will allow us to continue to protect our New Brunswick rivers in order to promote healthy living conditions for fish,” said Stephen Chase, executive director of the Atlantic Salmon Conservation Foundation. “These funds will provide funding to many New Brunswick community groups engaged in river conservation projects.”
