FREDERICTON (GNB) – Applications are now being accepted for the 2013 non-resident moose and black bear draws.

“These limited opportunity hunts bring visitors to our province, and are especially important to the province's licensed outfitters and guides,'” said Acting Natural Resources Minister Michael Olscamp.

All non-resident hunters must be accompanied by a licensed guide.

The application period for the non-resident moose hunt is from Jan. 2 to April 30. One hundred non-resident licences are available. Applications can be made online or by calling 1-800-994-2666. There is an application fee of $40.96.

The deadline to apply for the non-resident black bear draw is Feb. 28. A non-resident black bear hunter may acquire a licence by either of the following two methods:

●    through a designated, licensed outfitter or guide who has received an allocation of black bear licences, or
●    by entering and being successful in the computerized random access draw.

Slightly more than 2,000 non-resident black bear licences are available. Applications can be made online or by calling 1-888-994-2327. Applications can be made as a single hunter or as a group. There is an application fee of $29.66 per applicant.
