FREDERICTON (GNB) – Anglers in New Brunswick may apply for the annual Crown reserve angling draw as of today, Monday, Jan. 7.

"The Crown reserve angling draw is open to New Brunswick residents only and provides an opportunity for parties of two or four anglers to acquire recreational angling privileges on prime stretches on the Miramichi, Restigouche and Patapedia river systems," said Michael Olscamp, acting minister of natural resources. "These stretches are some of the best waters anywhere to fly-fish for Atlantic salmon and trout, so I encourage New Brunswick anglers to take advantage of this great opportunity."

Information about Crown reserve waters, including descriptions of the individual stretches, is online.

Anglers may apply online or by mail. There is an application fee of $7.91, which includes all taxes.

Mail-in applications are available at Department of Natural Resources offices and Service New Brunswick centres and should be sent to the Department of Natural Resources, Fish and Wildlife Branch, P.O. Box 6000, Fredericton, N.B., E3B 5H1.

Successful applicants will be awarded Crown reserve angling privileges on only one location and date. Individual names may not appear on more than one application form. Each party may apply for up to five specific locations and dates.

Applications for the 2013 Crown reserve angling draw must be received by the Fish and Wildlife Branch before 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 1. Draw results will be available March 25.
