FREDERICTON (GNB) – Two cabinet ministers will visit three cities in India next week to meet with local government officials and companies interested in investment and growth opportunities in New Brunswick.

Economic Development Minister Bruce Fitch and Energy and Mines Minister Craig Leonard, along with staff from Invest NB, will visit Mumbai, Ahmedabad and New Delhi during the Nov. 30 to Dec. 7 trip.

“New Brunswick is of interest to many companies in India,” said Fitch. “We will be meeting with some of the companies that already have an established presence in New Brunswick and also with other companies that have shown an interest in key sectors.”

Sectors where opportunities exist for Indian investment in New Brunswick include energy, natural gas export, mining, information technology, back office functions and advanced manufacturing.

The five-day mission will include discussions with a wide range of energy-based companies and government officials. Leonard will speak at the Energy Expo Inauguration Ceremony and will join industry experts in a roundtable panel on energy at Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University. He will also lead a seminar on Investing in the Energy and Mining Sector in New Brunswick.

“New Brunswick is in a position to play a key role in supplying India with the feedstock required for energy production, like natural gas, oil and fertilizer,” said Leonard. “The deep water ice-free Port of Saint John is well positioned for export of these products year round.”

Fitch will conduct a seminar on doing business in New Brunswick and will collaborate with the Indo-Canada Business Chamber.
