FREDERICTON (GNB) – The results of the resident moose draw are now available.

“I congratulate the successful applicants in this year’s resident moose draw,” said Natural Resources Minister Denis Landry. “I hope those New Brunswickers that have been selected have a safe and productive hunt.”

Hunters can verify the draw results by calling 1-800-459-3729 or by checking online at the Department of Natural Resources website. When verifying the draw results, applicants require the same form of identification they used to apply, either their Medicare or Outdoors Card number. Letters will also be sent to all successful applicants.

Beginning in 2016, use of the Medicare number to apply to the resident moose draw will be phased out and all applicants will require an Outdoors Card number. Persons who have not yet registered for their Outdoors Card number may do so online at the Natural Resources website.

There are 4,592 moose licences available for this year’s hunt which runs from Sept. 22 to Sept 26. Licences will be available for purchase from Service New Brunswick Centres beginning Aug. 17.

In the coming months, the department will be consulting with stakeholders and collecting ideas on the management of future moose hunting seasons.
