FREDERICTON (GNB) – The provincial government is investing $40,000 in the Gaia Project.

The basis of the project is to give youth the tools and the time they need to make fact-based decisions about energy and its impact on the economy, society and the environment.

“Our government is committed to investing in students, clean air and water, as well as a safe environment,” said Energy and Mines Minister Donald Arseneault. “The Gaia Project has significant potential for shaping attitudes and knowledge with respect to the environment.”

From 2014 to 2016, 59 schools across the province collaborated with the organization on different programs.

“The Gaia Project is grateful and proud to have the support of the Department of Energy and Mines,” said Jimmy Therrien, executive director of the Gaia Project. “Partnerships like this one are instrumental in helping our organization deliver on our mission and work towards youth leading a sustainable future in New Brunswick.”

The Gaia Project is a New Brunswick-based charity dedicated to providing project-based sustainability education to students by working collaboratively with students, teachers, schools, and outside professionals.
