FREDERICTON (GNB) – People across New Brunswick are being reminded to exercise vigilance and help prevent forest fires.

Hot, dry conditions in recent days have elevated the forest fire hazard and burn bans are in place throughout the province. The current weather conditions are ideal for the start of forest fires.

The province is currently closed to all burning, including firepits and backyard fireplaces.

Wildfires can also threaten people's homes and destroy wildlife habitat.

Fire conditions and other details are available on http://www.gnb.ca/firewatch and @NBForestFires. To report a fire, call 9-1-1 or your local Energy and Resource Development office. A list of offices and phone numbers is available online.
