FREDERICTON (GNB) – An order restricting forestry operations during afternoon hours has been lifted.

While forest users should continue to exercise caution due to dry conditions, recent rain and cool, damp conditions have led to a reduced fire hazard. Those conditions are forecast to continue.

“The level of caution that forestry operations and recreational users have exercised over the past two weeks helped get us through the most extreme conditions in decades,” said Energy and Resource Development Minister Rick Doucet. “I encourage all users to remain vigilant. Should conditions warrant, we will not hesitate to impose conditions again to ensure the health and safety of New Brunswickers.”

Restrictions on forestry operations between the hours of noon and 8 p.m. were imposed on Aug. 3 due to dry conditions in the forest.
