Jean Allain had a long career with the New Brunswick Community Colleges. A career counsellor by training, he first began his career as a counsellor with the NB Commission on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence. He then took on the role of career counsellor at the Bathurst CCNB campus. He subsequently held various management positions within the CCNB network, including head of department, assistant director, director of student services, marketing and director of the Bathurst campus.

Jean has a long relationship with the Economic and Social Inclusion Society. As a representative of post-secondary educational institutions, he participated in the round tables leading to the creation of the Overcoming Poverty Together plan and of ESIC. He was president of the Chaleur Community Inclusion Network for nearly ten years.

Mr. Allain has always considered it important to contribute to the community, and he works with various voluntary and community organizations. He was, among other things, founding president of Népisiguit Family Services, member of the selection committee of the Canadian Francophonie scholarships, member of the board of directors of the of the College of Bathurst Foundation, member of the board of directors of the Chaleur Multicultural Association, member of the Bathurst Economic Development Corporation, vice-president of the CCNB / NBCC Foundation, vice-president of the board of CBDC Chaleur and member of the cabinet of the fundraising campaign for the Foundation of the Chaleur Regional Hospital.

Jean lives in Beresford.
