FREDERICTON (CNB) - The national conference of the Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC) is being held in Fredericton from Aug. 23-26.
The theme of the conference is Turnarounds: Transformations in Government and Society.
"The turnaround theme of the conference captures a challenge that is a global and local, micro and macro, personal and societal, as well as private and public," said Frank McKenna, honorary chair of the conference. "It is a theme running through our shared history in this region, and in our country as a whole. Never has a conference subject been timelier."
Keynote speakers include retired Superior Court judge John Gomery; Brian Crowley, founding president of the Atlantic Institute for Market Studies; and Louise Fréchette, former deputy secretary-general and Canadian ambassador to the United Nations.
More than 40 speakers from around the world will share their experience, insights and lessons learned from within government and other organizations about the transformation of government, social views and policy development.
About 450 delegates interested in public administration will discuss, learn and exchange the latest examples of change within government organizations and society.
IPAC was founded in 1947, and has led public administration research in Canada, exporting successful Canadian public sector expertise around the world. Its mission is to promote excellence in public service through prestigious publications, awards of excellence, knowledge networks, and conferences such as this one.
