FREDERICTON (CNB) – Jean-Marc Dupuis, formerly an assistant deputy minister of health, has been appointed deputy minister of agriculture, aquaculture and fisheries. The appointment is effective Jan. 24.

Premier David Alward made the announcement today.

"Jean-Marc Dupuis brings a wealth of experience, expertise and talent to this senior position," Alward said. "I am confident the staff at Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries will benefit from his leadership as we all work together to make government more efficient, effective and accountable to New Brunswickers."

Dupuis became assistant deputy minister of health in September 2008. In that role, he was responsible for planning, sustainability, e-health and corporate privacy. Previously, he had served as chief executive officer of the New Brunswick community colleges and as an assistant deputy minister at the Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour.
