FREDERICTON (CNB) - Three retailers in the province were recently fined and had their tobacco licences suspended for a month as a result of selling tobacco to persons under the age of 19.

The Department of Finance, in conjunction with the Department of Public Safety, took action against the retailers in accordance with Section 5(1) of the Tobacco Sales Act.

The retailers were each fined $288, and their licences to sell tobacco products were suspended for one month.

The fines and suspensions were issued to:

  • Mainmast Investment Ltd., 382 St-Jean St., Saint-Léonard;
  • Tony's Service Station (1995) Ltd., O/A Donnie's Service Station, 15 Carleton Dr., Nackawic; and
  • Douglas Avenue Convenience, 341 Douglas Ave., Saint John.
