Overview of the New Brunswick Drug Plans
The Government of New Brunswick provides drug coverage to eligible residents of New Brunswick through the New Brunswick Prescription Drug Program, the New Brunswick Drug Plan and other drug plans (collectively known as the New Brunswick Drug Plans).
The New Brunswick Prescription Drug Program (NBPDP)
The New Brunswick Prescription Drug Program provides drug coverage to eligible residents of New Brunswick. Information on the eligible beneficiary groups is outlined on the Department of Health’s webpage. The drugs covered under the program are listed in the New Brunswick Drug Plans Formulary.
The New Brunswick Drug Plan
The New Brunswick Drug Plan is an income-based drug plan that provides drug coverage to eligible uninsured residents of New Brunswick who have a valid Medicare card. Members pay a monthly premium and a maximum copayment per prescription. Premiums and maximum copayment amounts are calculated using the gross family income for the year preceding the current year (as indicated by the Canada Revenue Agency).
