Overview
In order to ensure clinical care is delivered uniformly, effectively and efficiently the Government of New Brunswick has transitioned to two Regional Health Authorities (RHAs) from the previous eight RHAs. The two new RHAs have a broad mandate to deliver health services within New Brunswick. Each RHA has a Board of Directors appointed by the Minister of this department. The chairs and other members of the boards are compensated. The Government of New Brunswick has also established Facilicorp NB, a public sector company whose primary mandate is to assume responsibility for the provision of selected non-clinical services such as materials management and information systems.

Description
The two RHAs are responsible for managing and delivering a variety of services including Hospital Services, Community Health Centre Services, Extra Mural Services, Addictions and Mental Health Services and most Public Health Services. Services are offered in a variety of settings; at hospitals on both an in-patient and out-patient basis, at home, in schools, in clinics and in other community settings.
The names of the two new RHAs are Vitalité Health Network and Horizon Health Network.
Vitalité Health Network replaces RHA 1 Beauséjour (Moncton), RHA 4 (Edmundston), RHA 5 (Campbellton) and RHA 6 (Bathurst). Vitalité Health Network headquarters are based in Bathurst.
Horizon Health Network replaces RHA1 South East (Moncton), RHA 2 (Saint John), RHA 3 (Fredericton), and RHA 7(Miramichi). Horizon Health Network headquarters are based in Miramichi.
