FREDERICTON (CNB) - The provincial government will provide financial support for the show L'Acadie des terres et forêts, which will be presented this summer in Edmundston.

The announcement was made by Restigouche-la-Vallée MLA Burt Paulin on behalf of Tourism and Parks Minister Brian Kenny as well as Wellness, Culture and Sport Minister Hédard Albert.

"The provincial government, through the departments of Tourism and Parks, Intergovernmental Affairs, and Wellness, Culture and Sport, is pleased to support this production, which is important to the area," said Paulin. "The show is important in order to remember our past and our culture. Seeing these talented young people confirms to me that this is a worthwhile investment, as they will have a wonderful experience, and the spectators will be treated to a good show."

The production is presented every year to give visitors and Edmundston area residents a chance to discover the local culture. Dozens of young New Brunswickers will be involved in the show, directed by author-composer-performer Étienne Deschênes, an Edmundston native.

The New Brunswick government is investing $45,000 in the project.

"The provincial government is pleased to assist financially with this show, which will attract visitors from the Edmundston area as well as contribute to the economy and tourism of the region," Paulin said.
