GRAND FALLS (GNB) – The ExpoMonde (World Expo) – an international showcase presented in conjunction with the 2014 World Acadian Congress – will begin in Grand Falls on Saturday, Aug. 16.

“ExpoMonde will be a must-see at the World Acadian Congress being held in l'Acadie des terres et forêts (the land and forests of Acadie),” said Environment and Local Government Minister Danny Soucy, who will be participate in the official opening. “I encourage people to visit it often as the range of programming will give visitors a different experience each time.”

This showcase is being presented at the E.P. Sénéchal Center until Aug. 23. The three areas that are hosting the World Acadian Congress – New Brunswick, Quebec, and Maine – will have a pavilion at the event.

Each day, well-known local musicians will share the outdoor stage. The festivities will also include children's games, helicopter tours, genealogy information and art exhibits.

France, Louisiana, Acadie in Atlantic Canada and the Département de la Vienne, France, will have pavilions as well.

“The participation of all of these delegations will enrich the experience for visitors,” Soucy said. “I am certain that ExpoMonde will be part of the great memories people will take with them from the 2014 World Acadian Congress.”
