FREDERICTON (GNB) –Premier Brian Gallant and Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour Minister Francine Landry, who is also minister responsible for La Francophonie, will participate in the 15th Francophonie Summit, to be held from Nov. 28 to 30 in Dakar, Senegal.

The summit’s theme is Femmes et jeunes en Francophonie : Vecteurs de paix, acteurs de développement (women and youth in La Francophonie: agents for peace and development).

"We are proud of New Brunswick’s position in the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (international organization of the Francophonie) and at the 15th Francophonie Summit," Gallant said. "We are particularly pleased with the adoption of the new youth and economic strategies for the Francophonie, which will facilitate more active participation of women and youth in society."

As a member government of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie since 1977, New Brunswick is an active participant in the achievement of the organization’s objectives, especially in the fields of education and vocational and technical training, youth, the economy, children’s rights, and sustainable development.
