FREDERICTON (GNB) – The provincial government has signed a co-operation agreement with Senegal in connection with the Francophonie Summit taking place in Dakar, Senegal.

“I am pleased that New Brunswick and Senegal are officially establishing bilateral relations during this special Francophonie event,” said Premier Brian Gallant. “This agreement fits in well with our plan designed to create jobs and improve the quality of life of our families since it is based on a meaningful partnership and on the development of international initiatives.”

Gallant and Senegal Prime Minister Mohamed Ben Abdallah Dionne signed the agreement.

This five-year agreement, with a possibility of renewal, establishes a framework to foster mutually-beneficial interactions between the stakeholders in both regions in the areas of education, vocational and technical training, and sustainable development and the environment.

As members of the International Organization of the Francophonie, New Brunswick and Senegal endorse strengthening the solidarity between its members through co-operative actions advocated by the organization.
