MONCTON (GNB) – The official opening ceremony of the third Forum international jeunesse et emplois verts (international youth and green jobs forum) was held this morning at the Université de Moncton.

“Our government is proud that New Brunswick is hosting this international event, which is of great importance for the entire Francophonie,” said Economic Development Minister Francine Landry, who is also minister responsible for La Francophonie. “This forum will enable young people from around the globe to show that their entrepreneurial spirit and leadership create jobs focused on sustainable development and environmental protection while promoting the growth of the green economy at the local, national and international levels.”

About 100 students and entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 34 from member states of the International Organization of La Francophonie will participate from Monday, June 20, to Friday, June 24, in plenary sessions, round tables and discussions on entrepreneurship and sustainable development. Most of the proceedings will take place on the Moncton campus of the Université de Moncton.

The forum will also include a green jobs fair where participants will present their green economy projects to the public. The fair will be held on Wednesday, June 22, on the Dieppe campus of the Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick.

The first two forums were held in Niger, in 2013 and 2014.
