FREDERICTON (GNB) – New Brunswickers are encouraged to show their pride in the Canadian flag and celebrate National Flag of Canada Day by participating in the Share Your Moment with the Flag challenge.

“As we draw closer to Canada’s 150th birthday celebration on July 1, your government wants to see New Brunswickers show how proud they are to be Canadian,” said deputy premier Stephen Horsman. “I encourage everyone to take part in this special challenge and show off your Canadian pride.”

It was 52 years ago today, on Feb. 15, 1965, that the Canadian flag was raised for the first time on Parliament Hill.

Today, New Brunswickers are encouraged to take part in the nationwide Share Your Moment with the Flag challenge by taking a photo or video of themselves with the Canadian flag and tagging it with the hashtag #canadianflag.

Horsman has posted a video of himself with the Canadian flag on the government’s YouTube, Facebook and Twitter channels. The video, now available online, is the most recent episode in the province’s Fun with Flags series.
