FREDERICTON (GNB) – The following statement was issued today by Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour Minister Donald Arseneault:

As we observe Labour Day, I encourage you to join me in showing appreciation for the dedicated men and women who continue to make our province an ideal place to live, work and thrive. From those who have been living and working in New Brunswick their whole lives, to those who have more recently called our province home, I want to thank you for your contribution to our workforce.

Working represents a significant part of our lives and is more than just a lifestyle or a way to provide for our families. It gives us a sense of identity and achievement, contributes to our overall confidence and self-esteem, and allows us to contribute in a positive way to our communities and our province.

We all have a role to play to ensure our workplaces are fair and safe, and I would like to reiterate our government’s commitment to strong employment standards.

As minister responsible for labour, I encourage you to enjoy time with family and friends in our wonderful province this Labour Day weekend.

I look forward to working together to ensure New Brunswick continues to grow and prosper.
