FREDERICTON (GNB) – During Provincial French Pride Week, March 19-25, the public may visit any of the 63 public libraries in the province and present their library card to sign out one free admission pass per cardholder to the Village Historique Acadien.
The pass will be valid for one visit between June 10 and Sept. 14.
“The New Brunswick Public Library Service is proud to partner with the Village Historique Acadien again this year for this initiative,” said Labour, Employment and Population Growth Minister Gilles LePage. “Our libraries play an integral role in supporting lifelong learning. I encourage New Brunswickers to visit a public library during Provincial French Pride Week to take advantage of their free services and to get a pass to visit the Village Historique Acadien this summer.”
The aim of the initiative is to increase awareness of the ever-expanding free services offered in public libraries, and to provide patrons with an opportunity to visit the Village Historique Acadien, which is a living history museum recreating the daily lives of Acadians from 1770 to 1949.
Promotional campaigns of this type have been offered in the past in partnership with the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, Kings Landing and the New Brunswick Museum.
“The Village Historique Acadien is a must-see tourist attraction because it highlights our province’s rich culture and heritage,” said Tourism, Heritage and Culture Minister John Ames. “It is our hope that many New Brunswickers will take advantage of this opportunity to gain a better understanding of our Acadian heritage and culture.”
