DIEPPE (GNB) – Purolator is expanding its business services centre in Dieppe, creating up to 85 jobs over the next five years with support from the provincial government. 

“Your government’s multi-year economic growth plan focuses our efforts on creating job opportunities across the province in a variety of sectors,” said Premier Brian Gallant. “It is great to see a leading Canadian brand like Purolator continue to reinvest in New Brunswick because of our strong workforce and welcoming business climate.”

To support the creation of these jobs, the company is eligible for an investment of up to $560,000 from Opportunities NB, which is a Crown corporation that seeks to attract and support opportunities to grow the economy and create jobs. It provides support services for businesses across the province.

The funding comes in the form of payroll rebates, which are performance-based and disbursed annually to a company only when it has created and maintained the jobs during the year of the claim. The company must provide proof of salary levels and employment.

“Purolator has built a strong connection to the Greater Moncton community,” said Ken Johnston, the company’s senior vice-president and chief human resources officer. “Expanding our business services centre made sense because of this connection and the success we have already experienced here. With the growth of e-commerce, the market needs are changing. As our business grows and we respond to shifting customer needs, we know these customers are well served by the talent we can find here in New Brunswick.”

It is estimated that creating up to 85 jobs would generate an additional $1.8 million in provincial tax revenue over five years and $16.8 million in GDP over that same period.

Purolator is one of Canada’s largest couriers, with regional offices across the country. Its Dieppe location employs about 264 people as well as nine affiliated home-based customer service employees in the Bathurst region.
