TRACADIE (GNB) – The provincial government is investing $3.3 million to continue the mid-life upgrade at Polyvalente W.-Arthur-Losier in Tracadie as part of the 2018-19 capital budget.
“Your government understands the importance of investing in education to grow the economy and ensure health of our families,” said Premier Brian Gallant. “We continue to invest to modernize our infrastructure so we can offer our students the best learning environment possible and stimulate the economy and job creation.”
Work includes the renovation of the trade shops, as well as an addition to house the school district office.
“We understand that education is a priority of New Brunswickers, and we are proud to invest to extend the life of Polyvalente W.-Arthur-Losier by 30 years,” said Tracadie-Sheila MLA Serge Rousselle. “Our students need good schools to develop their full potential and contribute to society.”
Rousselle attended for Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Brian Kenny.
The school was built in 1969 and has 726 students. The project, which started in 2015, is expected to be completed in the fall of 2020. The total estimated cost of the project is $17.6 million.
The 2018-19 capital budget includes investments of $105.8 million in New Brunswick schools.
The government’s 10-year education plans aim to improve educational outcomes and better prepare young people for the future. They set objectives in priority areas to create lifelong learners, support educational leaders and bring stability to the system.
