FREDERICTON (GNB) – The following statement was issued today by Premier Blaine Higgs to mark National Acadian Day, Saturday, Aug. 15:

National Acadian Day is an opportunity to highlight the many important contributions of the Acadian people to the economic, social and cultural development of our province.

Acadians have had a meaningful impact on New Brunswick’s history thanks to their determination, enthusiasm and creativity. Acadian language, traditions and culture play a key role in making New Brunswick welcoming, rich in history and a great place to live.

I invite everybody to join me in celebrating Acadie.
