FREDERICTON (GNB) – The following statement of condolence was issued today by Premier Blaine Higgs:
Marcia and I were saddened to learn of the passing of former MLA, cabinet minister and senator, Brenda Robertson.
As the first woman elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick and the first woman to become a cabinet minister in the province, Brenda broke down barriers and served as a role model for generations of women.
She was a dedicated and respected leader, not just in our province, but across Canada, serving 20 years in the Senate.
She was a member of both the Order of New Brunswick and the Order of Canada in recognition of her commitment to public service.
On behalf of all New Brunswickers, I offer my sincerest condolences to Brenda’s family and friends.
