TRACADIE-SHEILA (CNB) – The provincial government is investing $65,940 to help create three television pilots with Cine Atlantik Studios in Tracadie-Sheila.

“Our investment in Cine Atlantik Studios shows our government has a major interest in the future of the film and television industry in northern New Brunswick and throughout our province,” said Economic Development Minister Paul Robichaud.

Funding provided through the Regional Development Corporation will also allow the studio to provide training opportunities during production.

Two of the three pilots being shot in Tracadie-Sheila are being produced by Hemmings House and Bruised Productions. They are Monkeytown, a children's television series, and Now and Again, a music and talk show. Hemmings House is an award-winning film and television production company based in Saint John that produces programming for the global market.

The third pilot is in development with Majestic Weinerdog Productions with Andrew Dunn as the producer.

“Ciné Atlantik Studios would like to acknowledge the support received by the province,” said Roland Basque, vice-president of Cine Atlantik Studios. “The studio is very excited to work with Hemmings House and their two pilots projects and we look forward to partnering with other New Brunswick producers and production companies with their up and coming projects.”

“This opportunity marks a turning point in the New Brunswick film industry,” said Greg Hemmings, chief executive officer, Hemmings House. “It proves that despite our industry's recent challenges, the province has stepped up to support production and secure a bright future in domestic production.”
