ESTEYS BRIDGE (CNB) – The provincial government is investing $37,000 to improve the recreation centre in Esteys Bridge.

"The provincial government is proud to invest in community projects that promote healthy living for families," said Fredericton-Nashwaaaksis MLA Troy Lifford. "Today's investment will help increase levels of wellness in our region."

Lifford made the presentation recently to the Esteys Bridge Recreation Association on behalf of Economic Development Minister Paul Robichaud.

The project entails an expansion to the centre and upgrades to make the facility more accessible.

"This project is about families,” said Lifford. “People of all ages from children to seniors use the facility and will benefit from this investment for years to come."

The investment is being made through the Regional Development Corporation's Family and Youth Capital Assistance Program.

This program gives community groups, non-profit organizations, local service districts and municipalities an opportunity to apply for funding for eligible capital costs of projects in support of youth- and family-related activities.
