CARAQUET (GNB) – The provincial government is investing $275,000 in a research and development project for the boat-building industry in Bas-Caraquet.

“Our investment in this important innovation project could lead to a new prototype boat being built right here in the Acadian Peninsula for the fishing industry,” said Natural Resources Minister Paul Robichaud, who is also minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation.

Robichaud made the announcement today.

Construction Navale Atlantique will receive a financial assistance package totaling $275,000 to assist in the fabrication of a second prototype boat, which could be used by different types of fishers in the lobster, herring and snow crab industries.
