SAINT-QUENTIN (GNB) – The provincial government is investing $160,000 in the construction of an athletics track at the Polyvalente A.-J.-Savoie in Saint-Quentin.

“Investing in sports is a unique way to boost the active participation of the public,” said Restigouche-la-Vallée MLA Martine Coulombe. “We want athletes, of course, but we mainly want to see people become healthy. Physical activity is fundamental to the well-being of New Brunswickers of all ages.”

Coulombe attended the event for Natural Resources Minister Paul Robichaud, who is also the minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation.

The fact that the track is located on the grounds of the high school is intended to further encourage young people to adopt healthy habits on a daily basis.

“Moving and getting active is for people of all ages,” said Coulombe. “Walking, running, and dancing are all ways of moving and keeping fit.”

The athletics track will be open to the general public outside of school hours.
