CHARLO (GNB) – The provincial government is investing $3 million in infrastructure improvements to the Charlo Dam.

“Your government understands the importance of the Charlo Dam to the community of Dalhousie and area,” said Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour Minister Donald Arseneault, who is also the minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation. “We are dedicated to making investments that enhance the quality of life of New Brunswickers and that grow the economy.”

Funding provided through the corporation will be used to restore and repair the toe of the dam to ensure its future stability.

“This investment guarantees reliable water for the people of Dalhousie, and presents a potential for new economic growth opportunities,” said Arseneault.

In 2016, the Town of Dalhousie and the provincial government reached a 10-year water supply and service agreement. The government, through the Regional Development Corporation, acquired the dam and a 14-kilometre water pipeline from Abitibi Bowater in 2009.
