BLACKVILLE (GNB) – The provincial government is investing $15,000 in soccer field improvements at Blackville School.

“Investing in education will help strengthen our economy and help New Brunswickers be healthy,” said Premier Brian Gallant. “This investment will help the educational experience for the students and support healthy living in the community. By investing in recreational infrastructure, we are motivating New Brunswickers to become more physically active, which will improve their quality of life.”

The government partnered with the Blackville Home and School Association, which contributed $19,870 to the project.

“On behalf of the association, we would like to thank everyone that helped in any way with our fundraising for our soccer field,” said Erica Maillet, chair of the Blackville Home and School Association. “The children love soccer and they deserve to have a field of which they can be proud.”

‎The government investment was made through the Regional Development Corporation’s Family and Youth Capital Assistance Program. It enables community groups, non-profit organizations, local service districts and municipalities to obtain funding for youth- and family-related projects such as playgrounds, sports and recreational facilities, community centres and equipment.
